Introduced in 1998, the annual Explore Harpswell Nature Day Camp is offered for one week each summer, three hours a day, at the end of July or beginning of August. Each camper has the opportunity to discover Harpswell's varied habitats, whether by digging a clam in the mud flats at Skolfield Shores or studying the shell of a horseshoe crab. Campers are encouraged to explore the sparking tidal pools and compare the saltwater critters with the ones found in freshwater, or in the upland forest. An elementary school science teacher leads each day's exploration. Parents and Grandparents are welcome. Exploring and learning happen rain or shine.
